Series contents Chapter 8 of 19
Understand your Masters and choose your next worthwhile upgrade. 13 guides and 6 practical reference sheets on Valora, Pan and Roman: a clear explanation, a next step, and the useful details close at hand.
See the series overviewChoose a benefit before you choose a name. Valora, Pan and Roman can all help the same account, but they may call for different resources at different times.
If you are unsure, begin with this distinction: do you want a Master to settle, to improve their Expertise, or to learn a skill?
Three different decisions
Settle a Master. You want their starting Expertise and first benefits. A known Master who is close to settling can be a good Lostlands target, even if they are not your main project for the month.
Develop the relationship. You want a higher Expertise level, stats or access to a skill. Your main needs are Affinity and the Emblems for advancements.
Learn a skill. You want a particular effect. Check Manuscripts, XP, prerequisites and the shared queue.
You can therefore target Pan's Affinity while a Valora skill is being learned. Prioritizing one Master does not mean stopping all progress on the others.
Profile 1: you join hunts but do not lead rallies
Your goal is to develop Hero Equipment. You attend nearly every hunt, but join other players' rallies.
Possible first target: Valora at Affinity 30, to unlock her Forge Hammer skill. Her Equipment XP skill is available at 20. Compare their early levels with what your equipment actually needs.
What can wait: a large increase to group rally capacity, since you do not lead rallies. Revisit it only if it becomes a prerequisite for another advanced skill.
When to look elsewhere: when the next hammer costs much more while a Pan Expertise benefit or Roman's first upgrade is close.
Profile 2: you gather and complete daily activities
You keep several marches gathering, complete intel missions and are still building.
Possible first target: have Pan settle, then compare the advancement toward relationship milestone 30, which improves his gathering Expertise. At the same time, his intel skill can reach level 2 for 500 Manuscripts from level 1, if you will actually use the extra missions.
What can wait: a shop skill when you use neither its refreshes nor its badges. If you already check the Mystery Shop regularly, level 4 of that skill instead becomes a concrete goal once available.
When to look elsewhere: when the next investment mainly buys convenience but a reward you want is already within reach through Valora or Roman.
Profile 3: you fight in the Arena regularly
You want to get more resources from the Arena without necessarily winning every duel.
Possible first target: have Roman settle for his starting Expertise. Then compare his token skill: level 3 grants +15% on daily and weekly rewards for 900 Manuscripts from level 1.
Next relationship project: complete milestone 50 for a chance at two chests. This is a meaningful goal, but no reason to postpone every smaller gain within reach for weeks.
What can wait: finishing his two Arena stat skills if your present goal is mainly economic.
Do you lead your alliance's key rallies?
That changes the profile. If your Bear Hunt rallies are full and the alliance can send more troops, Valora's group capacity becomes much more valuable.
That benefit cannot be measured only by the number of hammers on your account. It also depends on your role in organizing the hunt. Conversely, unused capacity does not justify the same investment.
Do you do all three activities?
Look at which Masters can settle soon and which benefits are already accessible. A reasonable path might alternate a Pan gathering milestone, a Valora hunt reward and then a Roman goal.
That order is not mandatory. A Master almost ready to settle, a stock of specific Emblems, a change in your activities or guidance from your kingdom may reverse the priority.
Each Master's relationship also provides stats: Attack for Valora, Defense for Pan, both for Roman. These are real benefits to consider alongside the cost of reaching them.
The resource you spend changes the choice
Manuscripts and the learning queue are shared. Master specific Emblems belong to one Master. General gifts and Emblems give you more options.
Keeping a Valora specific Emblem does not automatically fund Roman. Converting a general reserve too early, however, can close off an option. Look at the stock you are committing, not just the character's name.
Write down your plan before tapping
“I am aiming for this milestone because I use this bonus. I am missing this resource. Once I have it, I will compare my options again.”
KSL's Master calculator may eventually help you make that comparison using your account. It does not replace the rule: understand what you want before spending.
To turn a priority into an exact level: choose milestones and understand their requirements.
