GUIDE 10 β KING, HIGH KING, AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE OUTCOME
Who reigns after KvK? What do we gain? What do we lose?
This guide explains:
π the difference between King and High King βοΈ the four possible KvK outcomes π° who actually obtains the throne π what an affiliated kingdom is ποΈ how Positions work π₯ what happens to King Skills π what we actually lose in case of defeat β what we do not lose
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 1/13 β π§ PREP AND CASTLE DO NOT PLAY THE SAME ROLE
The political outcome of KvK depends on two stages.
1οΈβ£ PREP DETERMINES THE ATTACKER
The kingdom that wins Prep:
β becomes the attacking kingdom β protects its own Kingβs Castle β earns the right to attempt to conquer the opposing Castle
The kingdom that loses Prep:
β becomes the defending kingdom β must defend its own Kingβs Castle
2οΈβ£ THE CASTLE DETERMINES WHO REIGNS
An alliance from the attacking kingdom must then win the opposing Castle by:
π° holding it for 2 hours and 30 minutes consecutively
OR, if no alliance manages to do so:
π° having the longest cumulative occupation time after the five hours
β οΈ The times of several alliances from the same kingdom are not added together.
WINNING PREP IS NOT ENOUGH TO BECOME HIGH KING.
You must win:
PREP + CASTLE
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 2/13 β π KING, HIGH KING, AND AFFILIATED KINGDOM
π KING
A King normally governs his own kingdom.
In particular, he can:
ποΈ assign Positions π₯ use King Skills π grant temporary bonuses π’ organize certain kingdom functions
π HIGH KING
A High King emerges when a kingdom:
β wins Prep; β then has one of its alliances conquer the opposing Kingβs Castle.
In that case:
THE KING ALREADY ON THE THRONE OF THE KINGDOM THAT WON PREP BECOMES HIGH KING.
The High King then reigns over:
π his home kingdom π the defeated kingdom, which becomes an affiliated kingdom
π AFFILIATED KINGDOM
An affiliated kingdom is placed under the opposing High Kingβs rule for that period.
This does not mean:
β that the two kingdoms merge β that players are transferred β that alliances disappear β that cities can be attacked permanently after the Battle Phase
It is primarily a form of dominance involving the:
π throne ποΈ Position system π₯ royal skill system
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 3/13 β π’ SCENARIO 1
K2149 WINS PREP + CONQUERS THE CASTLE
This is our ideal outcome.
Outcome
π the King already on K2149βs throne becomes High King π K2149 becomes his primary kingdom π the opposing kingdom becomes his affiliated kingdom β K2149 retains royal control β our High King can act in both kingdoms
IMPORTANT
The High King is not automatically:
β the Rally Leader who enters the Castle β the player with the most kills β the R5 of the alliance that launches the final rally β the player with the longest personal occupation time
The official rule designates:
THE CURRENT KING OF THE KINGDOM THAT WON PREP.
Our choice of King before KvK is therefore strategic.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 4/13 β π‘ SCENARIO 2
K2149 WINS PREP BUT FAILS AT THE CASTLE
K2149 protects its own Castle but does not manage to conquer the opponentβs.
Outcome
π K2149 retains a normal King π the opposing kingdom also has a normal King β no High King rules both kingdoms β our kingdom does not become affiliated β our Kingβs Castle remained protected during this KvK
TWO KINGS REIGN SEPARATELY.
Prep was therefore not pointless:
π‘οΈ our Castle was never exposed to an opposing conquest π‘οΈ our royal independence is preserved
But we do not obtain:
β the High King title β royal control of the opposing kingdom
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 5/13 β π SCENARIO 3
K2149 LOSES PREP BUT DEFENDS ITS CASTLE
The opponent becomes the attacker but does not manage to conquer our Castle.
Outcome
π K2149 retains a normal King π the opposing kingdom has its own King β no opposing High King β K2149 remains independent β our defense prevents enemy domination
WE LOST PREP, BUT SAVED THE KINGDOM.
K2149βs King then depends on the Castle occupation rules.
The alliance that earned the right to reign is determined by occupation time.
Special case
If the attacker does not manage to occupy our Castle for even a single second:
THE FORMER KING IS CROWNED AGAIN.
Completely preventing the enemy from entering therefore has an additional political consequence.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 6/13 β π΄ SCENARIO 4
K2149 LOSES PREP + LOSES ITS CASTLE
This is the worst strategic outcome.
Outcome
π the current King of the opposing kingdom becomes High King π K2149 becomes the affiliated kingdom β K2149 no longer has an independent King during this reign βοΈ the opposing High King gains royal powers over both kingdoms
This notably means that:
π₯ the use of royal skills depends on him ποΈ the management of Positions depends on his administration π’ royal decisions are no longer controlled by K2149
LOSING PREP EXPOSES US.
LOSING THE CASTLE CONFIRMS THE OPPOSING DOMINATION.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 7/13 β π SUMMARY OF THE 4 OUTCOMES
β PREP WON + CASTLE CONQUERED
π K2149 High King π opposing kingdom affiliated π complete political victory
ββββββββββββββββββ
β PREP WON + CASTLE NOT CONQUERED
π two normal Kings π‘οΈ K2149 independent β no opposing domination β no K2149 High King
ββββββββββββββββββ
β PREP LOST + CASTLE DEFENDED
π two normal Kings π‘οΈ K2149 remains independent βοΈ successful defense
ββββββββββββββββββ
β PREP LOST + CASTLE LOST
π opposing High King π K2149 affiliated π΄ loss of our independent King
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 8/13 β π€ WHO BECOMES KING?
FOR A NORMAL KING
The alliance that won the right to reign can appoint the King.
Its Alliance Leader normally has:
10 HOURS
to choose a member of their alliance.
If no player is chosen:
β‘οΈ the Alliance Leader normally becomes King automatically.
Official exception
If the former King still belongs to the winning alliance:
β‘οΈ he may be automatically re-elected instead of the Alliance Leader.
ββββββββββββββββββ
FOR THE HIGH KING
When the kingdom that won Prep conquers the opposing Castle:
THE KING ALREADY ON THE THRONE IS CROWNED HIGH KING.
This point must be understood before the battle.
The High King is not selected after the final impact like a normal King.
Consequence for K2149
Before KvK, our King must be:
β active β reliable β available β capable of managing two kingdoms β capable of scheduling skills β fair in assigning Positions β ready to communicate with the affiliated kingdom
THE THRONE MUST NOT BE OCCUPIED AT RANDOM BEFORE A KVK.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 9/13 β π₯ WHAT CAN THE HIGH KING DO?
The High King has access to the royal skills available during his reign.
The current official rule states that:
ALL HIS SKILLS EXCEPT βKINGDOM SEARCHβ
can be used on players:
π in his primary kingdom π in the affiliated kingdom
This may include different types of royal skills:
ποΈ development bonuses π¬ research bonuses πͺ training bonuses β€οΈ healing bonuses ποΈ effects related to Positions βοΈ other administrative functions of the throne
Names, values, durations, and cooldowns must always be checked directly in the reign interface.
ββββββββββββββββββ
β οΈ KINGDOM SEARCH
Kingdom Search is the official exception.
This skill does not have the same cross-kingdom reach as the High Kingβs other skills.
HIGH KING β ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL POWER OVER EVERY FUNCTION.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 10/13 β ποΈ POSITIONS AND APPOINTMENTS
Positions grant temporary bonuses to appointed players.
They can notably help with:
ποΈ construction π¬ research πͺ training β€οΈ healing βοΈ military activities
The exact values depend on the Position displayed in the game.
ββββββββββββββββββ
RESERVATION SYSTEM ADDED ON 24/08/2026
The update added two reservation modes:
π BY QUEUE
Players join a queue.
π BY TIME SLOT
Players reserve a specific time slot within the next 24 hours.
β οΈ This feature takes effect after the first new King is crowned following the update.
The King or High King can also:
β enable automatic approval; β set a minimum Town Center level; β manage applications; β use a blocklist.
ββββββββββββββββββ
β±οΈ POSITION COOLDOWN
If a King appoints a player and then cancels that appointment:
β‘οΈ the Position enters a 30-minute cooldown.
During this time, it cannot normally be used again.
POSITIONS MUST BE PLANNED.
A poor assignment can block an important bonus at the wrong time.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 11/13 β β οΈ WHAT HAPPENS TO CURRENT BONUSES?
Three things must be distinguished.
1οΈβ£ ACTIVE KING SKILL
When Kingdom of Power begins:
THE FORMER KINGβS KING SKILLS AUTOMATICALLY BECOME INVALID.
Even if the mail still indicated several hours remaining.
Even a skill intended to last 24 hours may be interrupted.
Consequence
π« do not schedule an important royal skill too close to the start of KvK without checking its actual expiration time.
ββββββββββββββββββ
2οΈβ£ PERSONAL POSITION
A Position is never a permanent account bonus.
After a change of King or the arrival of a High King:
β οΈ do not assume your former appointment will be retained.
The new ruler controls the system and can:
π reassign the Position β cancel the appointment π modify the queue π modify the time slots π« restrict applications
Kingshot does not clearly state that all Positions are automatically removed at the same moment in every situation.
The prudent rule is therefore:
AFTER THE CORONATION, CHECK YOUR POSITION.
ββββββββββββββββββ
3οΈβ£ PERMANENT ACCOUNT BONUSES
You do not lose your personal upgrades:
β buildings β research β heroes β Hero Gear β Governor Gear β Charms β pets β VIP β acquired skins β Island progression
A change of King does not reset your account.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 12/13 β π WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY LOSE IN CASE OF DEFEAT?
IF THE OPPOSING HIGH KING TAKES CONTROL
K2149 mainly loses:
β its independent King β local control of royal skills β guaranteed control of Positions β the freedom to schedule its own royal buffs β part of its political autonomy during the reign
A cooperative opposing High King may continue to:
β assign Positions fairly β activate useful skills β treat the affiliated kingdom properly
A hostile High King may:
β restrict access to Positions β schedule skills poorly β favor only his own kingdom β complicate our organization
THE QUALITY OF THE HIGH KING MATTERS AS MUCH AS HIS TITLE.
ββββββββββββββββββ
WHAT WE DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOSE
A defeat does not remove:
β your account β your buildings β your heroes β your equipment β your stored resources β your alliance β your alliance territory β your Gems β your surviving troops β your right to continue playing
Any troop losses come from the fighting, not directly from the change of ruler.
K2149 is not transferred or merged with the opponent.
ββββββββββββββββββ
SPECIAL CASE: KINGDOM TRANSFER
If a kingdom finds itself without a local King after losing Kingdom of Power and a transfer event begins:
β‘οΈ the former King may temporarily resume the functions required for the transfer.
This notably includes:
β’ managing the Power Cap β’ invitations β’ approving requests
The system therefore prevents an affiliated kingdom from being completely blocked administratively during a transfer.
ββββββββββββββββββ
MESSAGE 13/13 β π― STRATEGIC CONSEQUENCES FOR K2149
BEFORE KVK
β choose a reliable King β verify that he will be available β plan the King Skills β prepare the Position system β inform all alliances
IF WE WIN PREP
Our Castle is protected.
But we still have to:
π° conquer the opposing Castle β±οΈ build up the right occupation time π obtain the High King
DO NOT STOP AFTER PREP.
ββββββββββββββββββ
IF WE LOSE PREP
Our priority becomes:
PREVENT THE OPPOSING HIGH KING.
This means:
π° defend the Castle β±οΈ retain the best occupation time π« prevent any enemy occupation if possible β€οΈ maintain healing rotations π₯ retain enough troops for five hours
Even after losing Prep:
K2149βS POLITICAL FATE REMAINS IN OUR HANDS.
ββββββββββββββββββ
IF WE OBTAIN THE HIGH KING
The K2149 High King must govern wisely.
Recommended principles
π€ respect the players of the affiliated kingdom ποΈ share Positions usefully π₯ schedule skills for both kingdoms π’ communicate the times π« avoid unnecessary provocations π use the reign to build a strong reputation
A good High King can turn a military victory into a diplomatic advantage.
A bad High King can turn a victory into future conflicts.

π§ KEY TAKEAWAYS
PREP DECIDES WHO ATTACKS.
THE CASTLE DECIDES WHO REIGNS.
THE CURRENT KING BECOMES HIGH KING IN CASE OF A COMPLETE VICTORY.
LOSING PREP DOES NOT YET MEAN LOSING THE KINGDOM.
LOSING THE CASTLE AFTER PREP IS THE REAL POLITICAL DEFEAT.
